Suzuki- Zic riders shine in Davao

CEBU, Philippines - The Suzuki and Zic Racing Team collected several honors in the 2014 Regional Underbone Grand Prix the other day in Davao City.

Neil Perino led Suzuki-Zic by claiming the novice class title. Perino was elevated to the higher class following his exceptional performance last year.

Perino who was using Suzuki Nex 115 dominated the novice 160 scooter race to save Suzuki-Zic-BMR from going home without a champion's trophy.

Two other Suzuki-Zic-BMR riders in Mario Borbon and new-comer Simon Solon got a bronze medal in their respective class.

Borbon placed third in the expert open underbone, while Solon debuted with a bronze in the beginners 130 scooter.

Solon, son of veteran drag racer Eyoy Solon was also fielded in the beginner's 100-125 superstock underbone and novice 160 scooter class, but didn't get to race in the superstock anymore as he got a wrist injury after suffering a crash in the novice 160.

Two other Suzuki-Zic BMR bets, John Louis Chan and Jeffry Tuico failed to get a podium finish. Another rider from Lapu-Lapu, John Paul Lantape also grabbed part of the limelight by winning the Suzuki Raider J Cup. (FREEMAN)
