CEBU, Philippines - The Visayas qualifying of the 2012 World Youth Scrabble Championship begins today at the Cebu City Sports Center.
Aside from a chance to represent the country in the WYSC this December in London, the top performers of the event will also receive pocket cash prizes.
It's going to be an interesting contest as the elementary players will test the skills of their high school counterparts.
The tournament is organized by the Cebu Scrabble Association under the leadership of its president Roger Abella and sanctioned by the National Scrabble Association of the Philippines.
Teodoro Martus, the country's No.1 scrabble player, will supervise the proceedings of the two-day tilt. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (FREEMAN)
