CEBU, Philippines – The Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons and the University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors figure in a knockout match today for the last semifinal berth in the juniors division of the 12th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) basketball season at the Cebu Coliseum.
Gametime is set at 5 pm.
For making it to the Top Four, USC is armed with a twice-to-beat advantage but the CEC Dragons kept their semis hopes alive after stunning the Baby Warriors, 83-70, last September 2.
The Dragons, who made a historic championship run two years ago, are expected to squeeze the most from the likes of Alfons Alvizo, Michael Lorenzo Balankig, Mark Vincent Berdera, Kent Vincent Moral, Shann Christopher Tan and Julius David Zosa among others.
On the other hand, the Baby Warriors will bank on Dolan Adlawan, Jude Luke Bulan, Ralph Camacho, Paul Galinato, King Joseph Osabel, Lorenzo Mikail Piad and Jonathan Sotes as they hope to dodge the upset axe this time against the Easternians.
The winner of the CEC-USC duel surely faces an uphill battle as it will take on next the undefeated elimination round topnotcher Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles in the next phase of the tournament starting on September 11. – THE FREEMAN
