CEBU, Philippines - The Davaoeños shone brightly in the 1st Bohol Wake Jam, while Moe Gomez and Susan Larsson topped the wake skate action the other day in Pandanon Island, Getafe, Bohol.
Zech Stephenson of Davao dished out the most tricks in five minutes to rule the men’s open wakeboarding competition over teammates Luda Horfilla and Gelow Cordero.
Among the hardest tricks Stephenson performed were the “landing on a tantrum” and a “blind judge” to get the nod of the judges.
In the distaff side, the 12-year-old Mikee Selga showed why she is an Asian women’s amateur champion by executing several fantastic moves. Tagbilaran’s Maria Theresa Calabria took the silver medal.
In the wake skating category or those not bound to their boards, Gomez, despite several slips, took the top honors in his class, thanks to the Sesitec System 2.0, said to be the best selling two-tower cable park system in the world that made him recover fast and perform some tricks on a limited time.
Manila’s Gomez sealed his bid with a front-side big spin to the delight of his Fil-Swedish girlfriend, Susan Larsson, who earlier topped the distaff side.
Another Manila-based wakeskater, Fermin Tamayo, came out second.
Koko Yuson made sure Cebu will not be left out by grabbing the bronze medal.
Those who missed the action can still go to Pandanon Island and try wake skating and wake boarding until June 25 for a fee of P900 for whole day and P600 for half day.
