It’s eight days away from Run UP High and if you are a fellow member of the UP Cebu High School Alumni or had relatives, who went to the school, I hope you have already signed up for the event.
Registration is still ongoing daily at the UP Cebu High School faculty room and at Runnr in Ayala Center Cebu.
There are four categories – 3-K individual, 3-K group, 6-K, and 12-K.
Run UP High aims to help raise funds for the scholarship program of the high school’s alumni association and also for the faculty development program.
On June 10, I hope to see you at our alma mater.

The winning run of the San Antonio Spurs came to an end yesterday in game 3 of the Western Conference Finals of the NBA.
After winning 20 straight, the Spurs lost game 3 to Oklahoma Thunder losing by 20 points.
To us Spurs fans, we believe it was just a temporary setback and the team will go back to their winning ways.
Although I only caught the early part of the game on television, it was obvious that the Spurs were not in top form after one turnover after another in the second quarter.
I continue to believe that the Spurs can make it and would not argue with those who think otherwise.
We don’t really know what would happen as the games can be as unpredictable as the weather.

One of the men who got me involved in the organizing committees of golf tournaments was Albino D. Gothong, who we fondly called Amo.
Amo was the man behind the successful Filipino-Chinese Friendship Golf Tournament in the late 1990s and after that tournament, our committee continued to work together for many other events.
There was even a time when we were organizing tournaments in Alta Vista Golf and Country Club, Cebu Country Club, and Club Filipino.
After Amo passed away a few years ago, the group continued to organize events at Alta Vista, which has become the home course for several of us.
This June 23 and 24, we will be staging the 5th Amo Cup at Alta Vista in honor of the man, who inspired us all to make the tournaments our group put together more fun and rewarding for the participants.
We continue to miss the presence of Amo in our meetings especially the way he would solve problems that the committee would face.
Through this tournament, we hope to keep his legacy alive. More than being a fun event, the proceeds of the tournament will go to the Alpa Foundation, which has already helped so many people in Cebu.
