CEBU, Philippines - Fernando "Batang Bato" Ocon-Singwangcha (9-1, 1KOs) will make his debut under the wings of highly esteemed Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha as he takes on the undefeated Aroel "Baby Lion" Romasasa (9-0, 5KOs) of General Santos City for the Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) flyweight championship in the main event of a slambang fight card tonight at the San Fernando Sports Complex in the bustling southern Cebu town of San Fernando.
The eight-bout fistic extravaganza is presented by Naris and Wakee Promotions International of Cebuano topnotch promoter Rex "Wakee" Salud in partnership with the local government of San Fernando under the leadership of Mayor Antonio "Abe" Canoy.
Ocon-Singwangcha once took a shot at the WBO Oriental minimumweight title but lost by decision to Jether Oliva on May 13 last year at the San Francisco Multi-Purpose Gym in San Francisco, Southern Leyte.
In his previous match, Ocon-Singwangcha eked out a majority decision victory over JR Estremos during the "Kadaugan sa Mactan" card last April 22 at the Mactan Shrine in Lapu-Lapu City.
Romasasa, on the other hand, is coming off a streak of nine victories he capped with a second round stoppage of Jerome Bontog in May last year in San Francisco, Southern Leyte.
However, Romasasa hasn't fought since then, giving Ocon-Singwangcha a slight advantage going into their brawl scheduled for 10 rounds.
The rest of the card features Redondo Singwangcha vs. Rey Vincent Liparanan, Gelbert Magos vs. Lester Jun Pronco, Francisco Singwangcha vs. Dodong Tubo, Kenny Demecillo Singwangcha vs. Jun Ryan Quimbo, Joel Soterol vs. Jeson Inso, Bryan Maano vs. Sonny Katiangdagho, and Kenny Singwangcha vs. Jun Ryan Quimbo. - THE FREEMAN
