Alaska Power Camp honors outstanding cagers

CEBU, Philippines - Close to 100 basketball enthusiasts ranging from five to 17 years old have completed the three-week Alaska Power Camp clinic the other day at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Mango Avenue gym. The camp was handled by Roel Gomez, a former assistant coach of the Alaska Aces in the PBA who is currently calling the shots for the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters in the CESAFI.

The three most promising players from different age divisions received trophies and medals. They were Christian de la Torre (14-17), Dervin Gerod Menina (10-13) and Charles Bucao (6-9).

Alain Carlo Bandal was the best shooter in the 14-17 class, Eljay Alfaro in layup, John Lim in passing and Joshua Canatingan.

The honorees in the 10-13 were Jose Zaldy Dizon (best dribbler), David Ragasa (best passer), Anton Rome Trayvilla (best shooter), Eral Jericho Rotaquio (best in lay-up) and Kobe Bryan Abellanosa (best in footwork).

The recipients of special awards for the 6-9 group were Charles Bucao (dribbling), Vince Evan Narido (shooting), Vincent Escobido (layup), Andre Bermudo (passing), and Kobe Llanto (footwork). The most improved kid was Zach Mediodia. (FREEMAN)
