Cevees crush Davao in hoop event

CEBU, Philippines - Host Region 7, represented by the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters, kick-started its title bid with an 89-53 demolition of Region 11-Davao in men's basketball event of the 2012 PRISAA National Games yesterday at the Cebu Coliseum.

Eleazar Armecin, a reinforcement from the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras, paced Central Visayas with 20 points followed by UC rookie June Marco Mistal with 13 markers.

Edward Pao, a shooter from UC, and another SWU player Bonifacio Guillena III cashed in 11 points apiece for Region 7, which held the Davaoeños to just five points in the first quarter on the way to mount a commanding 18-point advantage at halftime, 37-19.

It was cruise control for Region 7 from there onwards, with the host padding its lead to as much as 30 points before turning it into a 36-point out at the final buzzer.
