CEBU, Philippines - “One race, one team, one Cebu”.
This will be the battlecry of Cebu triathlon community as its looks forward to a successful campaign and hosting of this year’s 70.3 Ironman Philippines set on August 5 at Shangri-la Resort in Mactan Island.
“When Camsur hosted the 70.3 IM Philippines, they had Team Camsur to represent them with the backing of Gov. L-Ray Villafuerte. Now that Cebu is hosting the biggest triathlon race in the country, we can't allow not to have a representation,” said triathlete Ralph Arche, who is one of the primovers of Sugbu Triathlon.
Initially, several clubs here have decided to field in 50 triathletes to compose Team Cebu. Those who are interested to be part of the team have only until April 23 to register via sugbutriathlon.com.
Those who will not make it to the first 50 list can still join the team, but will have to spend for their own uniform and other related expenses.
“The goal of this undertaking is to unite the Cebuano triathletes from the different teams in and outside Cebu for this big event,” added Arche. — (FREEMAN)
