CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Queen City United FC padded its winning run to six games in a row with a 5-2 conquest of Manila All-Japan in the Second Division of the 2012 United Football League (UFL) last Sunday at the Turfin Bonifacio Global City.
Thus, the QCU booters of coach Mario Ceniza ended their first round campaign at third place with 22 points on seven wins, two defeats and one draw.
Fighting in full force, QCU coasted to a 2-0 lead at halftime. Skipper Jan Michael Flores broke the ice of the match at the 19th, while Rene Menchavez, Jr. punched in their second goal at the 29th.
Marion Rey Cubelo stretched QCU's lead to 3-0 at the 69th, but Manila All-Japan FC retaliated with back-to-back goals from Shinichi Tanaka at the 75th and Masahko Yagi at the 85th to pull within a hairline, 2-3.
That was the best Manila All-Japan could muster though as QCU regained its offensive bearing with Benedict Luis Arriola firing a goal at the 89th before Cubelo wrapped up the match with a goal at the 91st.
