CEBU, Philippines - The multi-titled Arland Macasieb will try to hit two birds with one stone in Cebu by trying to help local triathletes improve their skills today then compete in the Xterra Philippines’ action in Liloan this Sunday.
Macasieb will be holding a multi-sport clinic dubbed “Efficient Swimming and Running Techniques in Triathlon” this 6 p.m. at the J Centre Atrium in Mandaue City.
This is the second clinic that Macasieb is handling in just one week, the first one of which was held in Manila.
Macasieb, an exercise physiologist, is one of the country’s top triathletes. He never hesitates to share his expertise to others.
After tonight’s clinic, Macasieb, who is also an endorser of Vellum Cycles, will see action in the Vaseline Men Xterra Philippines’ Off-Road Triathlon Series in Amara, Liloan.
Macasieb is not used to off-road triathlon, but hopes to improve his performance compared to how he did at the Xterra Guam last week.
He will be competing under the Filipino elite category.
“The race went well save for one crash. Xterra is not so much about fitness but more about skill. Unfortunately I have not been on a mountain bike that much but I am hoping I can pull out a good race (this Sunday),” he said.
As Macasieb sets his sight on a better showing this Sunday, one of the most excited to see him compete is no less Vellum’s president and CEO, Chris Aldeguer who decided to cancel his participation in the event and just focus on the conventional triathlon action. (FREEMAN)
