CEBU, Philippines - The 5th Mayor’s Cup Sports Tournament comes off the wraps at 1 pm this Sunday at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.
The event is among the highlights of the city’s annual fiesta on May 8 in honor of its beloved patron St. Joseph.
Mandaue City Sports Commission executive director Hidelito Pascual said all the participating teams from 27 barangays will join the parade at 1 pm from A.C. Cortes towards the complex.
A cheerdance contest and the search for best muse and best in uniform will spice up the opening bash to be graced by no less than Mayor Jonas Cortes.
Among the events to be contested in the annual sports gathering among Mandauehanons are basketball, volleyball, “dayon-dayon”, table tennis, boxing, softball, lawn tennis and a fun run.
Pascual said this is one way of enhancing the sports potentials of local residents as well as promoting the spirit of teamwork among Mandauehanons in achieving the common goal of making the city livable. - Mandaue News Service (THE FREEMAN)
