CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Dragons are in high spirits as they debut in the Bostik National 10s Rugby League in Manila following a 5-all draw against defending national champion Nomads during its Cebu Tour at the Cebu International School over the weekend.
The day started with the Nomads posting an easy 48-0 win against the Komodos, the Cebu Dragon’s training pool.
The Cebu Dragons, on the other hand, also prevailed against the Komodos, 45-0, despite some unforced errors.
The Dragons started strong with French forwards Vincent Brocas and Yoann Nohe leading the charge.
Speedy winger Homer Bangay then delivered the goods for the Dragons after outpacing the covering defenders to cross the chalk and score.
With the Dragons leading the game, the Nomads then went pressing through their big forwards but sterling tackling, led by veteran Henri DeLorme, kept them out until the Dragons ran out of tacklers allowing the Nomads to cross and level the score at the end of the game.
Although it ended in a draw, the Cebu Dragons are upbeat in their debut after putting up a good fight with the Nomads.
More to it, the Dragons will also have services of the ever-trusted Noel Flowers and center Matt Aspegren that makes the entire team more confident. (FREEMAN)
