CEBU, Philippines - Richie Taborada, Cesar Arquillano and two others bested separate foes to become the third batch of qualifiers into the last 16 knockout stage of the 2nd Jancor Post 9-Ball Tournament at the138 Mall Billiards Center along Colon Street, this city.
Taborada kept his title hunt in motion with a 5-1 crushing of Robert Sagarido, while Arquillano was similarly impressive in his 5-2 whipping of Eddie Tan.
Butch Agosto and Antonio Cosi likewise marched into the next phase of the four-day tilt organized by Deo Velez assisted by tournament director Allan "Colonnade" Milan.
Agosto booted out Frisco Hayo, 5-1, while Cosi terminated Ondo Oco, 5-2.
The other players who already gained berths into the Final 16 include Milan, Ramon Torralba, Jovanni Alcontin, Ricky Etang, Anthony Cortes, Arnel Notarte, James Earl and Mark Uy.
A total of P30,000 in cash prize is at stake for the top finishers.
The champion will go home P12,000 richer, while the second to fourth will pocket P7,000, P4,000 and P3,000, respectively.
The fifth to eighth placers will get P500 apiece, while the ninth to 16th will each receive a consolation prize of P300. (FREEMAN)
