CEBU, Philippines - A bigger and grander 2nd Sinulog Football Cup will take place this weekend simultaneously at the University of San Carlos-Technological Center in Brgy. Talamban and San Roque Parish field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Aside from the United Football League (UFL) stars gracing the affair, the two-day event will also have a television coverage through AKTV of TV 5 Kapatid network.
Also, the number of participating teams snowballed to 215, 45 of which will see action in the men's open division.
Tournament director Francis Ramirez said this is the first time that local football tournament will be broadcast on national TV although on a delayed basis.
“These developments will encourage our local players more at the same time boost our local football. This might be the beginning of something great for local football. If this venture will be successful, there's a possibility that the upcoming tournaments here will also be covered by the said network,” said Ramirez.
Aside from the men's open, the other categories to be contested include the players 6, players 8, players 10, boys 12, boys 14, girls 14, boys 17, girls 17, ladies open, Inter-BPO, and 38-above.
Registration fee is pegged at P700 for players 6 to boys 17 and P1,100 for the men's open to 38-above.— (FREEMAN)
