Do you want to witness tough sporting action today? If so, then head on to the Cebu International School (CIS) grounds in Barangay Pit-os, Cebu City for the 4th Annual International Cebu 10s Rugby Festival.

The first match will kick off at 10 a.m. and this is open free to the public.

According to Damien Allison, there are eight teams seeing action in the tournament. These are the Beijing Aardvarks, Manila Nomads, Nomads Carabaos, Alabang Eagles, Manila Hapons, MAAP Warriors, Cebu Dragons, and the Cebu Komodo Dragons.

In Cebu, there number of rugby enthusiasts is growing. So, if you are interested to get into the sport, why don’t you head on to CIS today and learn more.

There would be food and drinks for sale at pitchside so there is no need really to bring lots of stuff. Just bring a folding lawn chair, a hat, sunblock and of course, your camera.

Another email I received yesterday came from Ken Salimbangon, who invited me to the inauguration of the Consolacion Tennis Courts this morning.

The place, Ken said, is the first of its kind in Cebu and they wish to share it with all Cebuanos especially the kids, who dream to become top junior players.

He also said that the facility, which has eight courts, is eyed as the center for tennis training in Cebu.

I am still trying to figure out how I can fit this into my schedule, but the activity starts at 9 a.m.

To get the area, you drive north to the town of Consolacion, which is not hard to miss with all those steel railing used as lane dividers. Before you cross the second of two bridges, there is a corner on the right side that you would take all the way to the Cebu International Tennis Center Inc.

This is definitely a welcome addition to the sports facilities in Cebu. What makes me really excited about it is the fact that our children would not have to go far to get quality training.

By the way, to spice up today’s inaugural, there will be two exhibition matches featuring some of the country’s top players.

In the afternoon, there are two clinics scheduled.

Attention tennis moms and dads. This is the new place to take your children to.

Today’s greetings go to my big brother Ramon Sebastian as well as to Alex Quitazol and Monmon Escaño.
