CEBU, Philippines - The tandem of Severino Boy Romano and Eugene Ermac bagged the group B title of the Cebu Technological University (CTU) Centennial Celebration Presidential Lawn Tennis Cup yesterday at the school's tennis court.
Romano and Ermac thrashed the duo of Nelson Maturan and Romarito Lomeria in the final round, 8-4.
In the other championship match, Zaldy Guinocor and Allan Marinas were pushed to the limit before getting rid of the hard-fighting Michael Suson and Napoleon Flores, 8-7 (7-4), to walk away with the group C crown.
In the battle for third, Julius Taghoy and Felix Turbonado defeated Melvin Abarquez and Cesario Gomez, 8-4 in group C, while Erwin Allego and Edgar Tibay beat Jerry Rich Densing and Concordio Coliao, 8-7 (7-4), in group B.
Under the theme “Reminiscing and relishing the century of physical wellness through Lawn Tennis Cup”, the tournament is among the highlights of CTU's Centennial Celebration. CTU is currently led by its president Dr. Bonifacio S. Villanueva. - (THE FREEMAN)
