CEBU, Philippines - The father-and-daughter tandem of Jovie and Jannelle Saulog stole the spotlight after topping their respective classes in the fourth leg of the Keiz BJ Motors and Phoenix Cyclomax Titan Motocross Series at the specially-designed race course in Brgy. Caduawan, Tabogon north of Cebu.
Jovie Saulog came out the fastest in the expert class, edging out Winsor Famorca as Whelbert Marano, Cyril Tariman, Jan Baluyos and Ayen Ledesma occupied the third to sixth spots.
Saulog's equally-daring daughter Jannelle also made an impression by lording it over in the ladies special over RK Cuesta and Noah Mangubat.
The Ornopia siblings Brylle and Keizer, children of race organizer and Keiz BJ Motors top honcho Seigfred Ornopia, stole part of the limelight.
Brylle seized two titles through the mini class 85cc and beginners selection limited. Denmar Supatan placed in the mini class 85 cc followed by Peewee Galia, RK Cuesta and PJ Galia, while Denmar Supatan, Jannelle Saulog, PJ Galia and Peewee Galia took the second to fifth slots in the beginners selection.
Not to be outdone, Keizer Ornopia dominated the peewee category after outpacing the likes of PJ Galia, Ken Ornopia, Froilan Tariman and Harry Lauron.
Nanding Pepito and Russel Gungob were the other double champions in the one-day race bankrolled by Keiz BJ Motors and Phoenix Cyclomax Titan in partnership with Haojue Phils., Energy FM, RMO Motorparts, Manang Lourdes Furniture, Edmund Pinkian, Geoffrey Vinalon and Romy Ouano.
Pepito reigned supreme in executive B and C, while Gungob stamped his class in executive selection limited and executive A.
Dhong Batiquin ruled the local enduro over Jun Quirol and Alex Abalo, while Rey Quirol shone brightly in the beginners open production after beating Jougee Basco, John Hisoler, Dhong Batiquin and Jun Quirol.
Basco still have something to be happy about as he won the habal-habal/wanggits category. Kent Limpag wound up second followed by Sarge Espina, Ardita Lee, Romeo Alivio and Kenneth Englis.
Tammy Largosa, on the other hand, clinched the title in the mini class 65cc. Ken Ornopia took the second place honors followed by RK Cuesta, Peewee Galia and PJ Galia.
Chello Aballe joined the winners' podium after via the peewee starter. He was trailed by PJ Galia and Froilan Tariman. (FREEMAN)
