CEBU, Philippines - The rifle and gun enthusiasts of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) are organizing a 2nd fun shoot and competition this Saturday at the Kamagong Gun Club range inside Camp Lapu-Lapu.
Dubbed as the VSMMC 2nd Medical Center Chief Funshoot 2011, this is a carry-over activity initiated by VSMMC’s Medical Center Chief Dr. Gerardo “Gerry” M. Aquino, Jr. when he assumed office four years ago to promote camaraderie, discipline and social responsibility inside, as well as outside the workplace for the VSMMC staff, who are rifle and gun enthusiasts.
The organizers have prepared three courses of fire for this IPSC match.
The courses of fire would feature hospital settings. There are two speed shoots and one field shoot with a total shell count of 63 rounds.
The event is held in cooperation with Armscor, Global Asset Protection Inc. (GAPROTEC), and Alesna Security and Detective Agency (ASDA).
Participants can register as early as 8 a.m. at the range. There will be a basic gun safety instruction to be conducted by VSMMC Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tyrone Mercader, gun handling lecture by Dr. Emmanuel “Manny” Barcenas, and a gun handling demonstration by Dr. Crispin “Bebot” L. Ouano.
The inaugural firing shot of VSMMC Medical Center Chief Dr. Gerardo “Gerry” M. Aquino, Jr. will signal the start of the Funshoot.
This event is exclusive only to all VSMMC employees, affiliates, families and friends.
To highlight the activity, Armscor will raffle off surprise items including a set of airsoft rifle only to the registered participants of the event. Registration fee is P200.00. — PR (THE FREEMAN)
