ChrisRod Dawgz tops Villa Barkadahan Cup

CEBU, Philippines - ChrisRod Dawgz emerged as champion of the 7th Vincent D. Villa Barkadahan Cup after beating Cebu Grand Hotel, 86-73, in Game 2 of their best-of-three final at the University of Southern Philippines Foundation gym the other day.

The victory was really meant for the Dawgz as despite missing the services of two of their trusted players due to different reasons, teamwork paid off well at the end.

The 6’3 import Nick Cooley missed game 2 due to knee injury while Mark Barberona was thrown out of the game after getting into a fist fight with a player of CGH in the second quarter.

Samsam Gullas and Aldrin Fernandez led the charge for the Dawgz that paved the way for a 22-point lead at the half, 72-50.

CGH tried to turn the tables around, but as soon as the Dawgz lead narrowed to only eight points entering into the final canto, the likes of John Alex Loon, Michael Viliran, Rory Paspie, Dax Navarro and Hans Grogard stepped up and posted several baskets.

The defense put up by the likes of Gee Lord Chua, Daryl Alfafara, Paul Alvarez, Michael Duran, and Hammer Daclan also helped ChrisRod Dawgz score the win. — THE FREEMAN
