CEBU, Philippines - Cebu bets Rafael John Dacaldacal and Justine Reign Garrido made their presence felt after hauling multiple golds that earned them the Most Outstanding Swimmer awards in the 1st Regional Novice Swimming Meet yesterday at Tagbilaran City.
The 12-year-old Dacaldacal of Mandaue City swam six golds through the 10m individual medley, 50m butterfly, backstroke, breast stroke and in the 50m and 100m freestyle of the 11-12 age bracket.
The 10-year-old Garrido, on the other hand, secured three golds and three silvers in the 9-10 years old category. She dominated the 50m butterfly, breast stroke and freestyle. She got her silver medals in 100m individual medley and 25m backstroke and freestyle events.
“I’m very confident that these two swimmers will really shine in the competition. Mga potential gyud ning mga bataa kung mopadayon sila in swimming. I’m just hoping that they will continue what they’ve started,” said Cebu Blue Marlins head coach Rolando Alvarez.
