Little Azkals start bid in Malaysia tomorrow

CEBU, Philippines - The Little Azkals, powered by seven Cebuano players, start their title bid tomorrow in the 2011 AFC Under-13 Festival of Football in Malaysia.

The Cebuanos who made the final cut to the Little Azkals were Moiselle Angelo Alforque, Mario Lorenzo Ceniza, Lawrence Colina, Major Dean Ebarle, Vincent Erik Lovitos, Lorenzo Giuseppe Genco and Kintaro Miyagi.

The rest of the PHL Under-13 team members of Cebuano coach Oliver Colina include NCR’s John William Abraham, Ray Vincent Sanciago, John Albert Miller and Harel Dayan, Cagayan de Oro’s Jeremiah Borlongan and Dimitri Lionel Limbo, Davao’s Darius Joseph Diamante and Javier Romero-Salas, Dumaguete’s Ian Danielle Eumague, Jhenry Omar Hamdan, Mason Treant Vergara,Jose Anton Yared andKairyl Vienne Parao and Dipolog’s Sebastian Rafael Benedict Patangan. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol

Under the behest of Cebuano coach Oliver Colina, the Little Azkals will go up against booters from seven countries led by host Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Camboadia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

The Little Azkals' might will be tested at the very start of the tournament where they are scheduled to play three games against Laos and Singapore in the morning and versus Indonesia in the afternoon.

On June 3, the country’s bets will take on Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia.

June 4 is alloted for the players’ skills test.

Action resumes on June 5 wherein the Little Azkals battle Cambodia anew before taking on Singapore. They will wrap up their campaign against Malaysia and Laos. — THE FREEMAN
