Martinez motocross event blasts off in Bogo this am

CEBU, Philippines- Fresh from a much-needed international exposure, multi-titled Cebuano daredevil Jonjon Adlawan will lead other 60 riders in today’s 3rd Mayor Celestino E. Martinez, Jr. Motocross Cup, which also serves as the sixth leg of the 2011 MS Motosuit Motocross Series in Sitio Buac, Brgy. Taytayan in the city of Cebu north of Cebu.

Adlawan will compete in the pro and expert classes together with 5th leg champion Pepo Rubi, who dominated the 3rd Mayor Ricky Ramirez Motocross Cup last April 28 at the New Medellin Estate Subdivision race track in Medellin, Cebu.

Rubi also won the intermediate category and placed second in the expert open class.

Adlawan, who was among the best pinoy riders in FIM’s Asian Motocross Championships recently, is expected to use the experience he gained from a series of events in Denmark.

The 20-year-old engineering student from the University of San Carlos has joined the Denmark race, battling it out with Danish riders in Roskilde last April 16, Herning on April 21, Kalundbrog on April 24 and Bornholm on April 30.

In today’s race, the back-to-back MS Motosuit 'Rider of the Year' awardee and SAC-SMB All-Cebu Sports Awards honoree Adlawan is expected to give Rubi a run for his money, even as the likes of Clark Wagas and John Flores are dead ready to spring major surprise in the pro and expert categories.

Aside from Adlawan and Rubi, the likes of John Flores, Seigfred Ornopia, Donkey Sanchez, Jun Enriquez, Clark Wagas and BJ Pepito make up the list of elite riders to watch out for.

Presented by MS Motosuit, the event is supported by St. Vincent Water refilling station, Galing UK shop, Global Forex and Remittance Co. Inc, Norkis Bogo, NASA, Hon. Yoyong Almerante, Rey Goco and Tata Amores.
