JP Morgan, Xlibris demolish foes in E-League hoopla

CEBU, Philippines - JP Morgan Chase Co. Bankers and Xlibris Publishers got off to flying starts in the CSCC Powerade E-League basketball tournament the other day at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

JP Morgan Chase Co. Bankers pummeled Executive Boutique Tarantulas, 64-34, while

Xlibris Publishers thrashed the SupportSave Dragons, 52-40.

Meanwhile, the Teletech Titans are out to defend their title but they are expected to meet tough opposition from three-time champion Convergys Wolves.

Completing the 16 entries this season are Stream Blue Devils, Aegis People Support Vipers, Calltek Trojans, Accenture Sharks, Eperformax Reds, Lexmark Stallions, Qualfon Knights, Wipro Wild Cats, Opinionology and Kyocera Frontiers.

During the opening ceremony, Aileen Jane Yap of Teletech romped off with Ms. E-League 2011 crown.

The sixth-month tilt will follow a single round robin format, with the top seven teams advancing to the playoffs. The eighth spot will be determined in the wild card phase.

The top four will enjoy twice-to-beat advantage over the lower ranked squads. The semifinal and the championship will be a best-of-three series.

Aside from the MVP and Mythical Six, new awards will be given away such as the Player of the Week, Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Player, Best in Sportsmanship and Best Coach.
