CEBU, Philippines - DESPITE the odds, Cebuano Marniel Dimla managed to grab a bronze in the 1st Asian Pencak Silat Championships in Singapore.
Dimla was not supposed to join the event anymore as he just recovered from a foot injury he got during the World Championships at the same time he is also busy training other members of the RP team being a part of the coaching staff.
However, after learning that line-up of entries in the +F 70-75, his category, he decided to join the battle, even without much preparation.
Dimla dumped a pencak silat artist from Thailand for the bronze.
The long-time RP mainstay turned trainer-coach Dimla failed to advance into the final round after injuring his foot again in his fight against Vietnam's bet.
Vietnam ruled the overall action while Team Philippines ended with two silvers and five bronzes. – THE FREEMAN
