CEBU, Philippines - The crowd-pleasing Cebuano rider John Flores got what he wanted, an experts title through the 13th Ornopia Cup that also served as the fourth leg of the 2011 MS Motosuit Motocross Series the other day in Brgy. Calambua, San Remigio.
Flores made the most out of the absence of top contenders Jon-Jon Adlawan, Kimboy Pineda and Pepo Rubi and the teenage sensation deserved to be given credit for putting up a great show that wowed the spectators so well.
Flores beat Rex Barbaso for the top spot in the experts open, while Jubenile Abellar wound up third.
A mechanical trouble, however, prevented Flores from reigning supreme in the pro open and settled for the third place finish instead, with Abellar winning the title followed by Barbaso.
Flores also placed third in the intermediate open won by another fast-rising rider Cyril Tariman. For the third time, Barbaso took the second place honors.
Tariman also topped the novice open production title followed by Omar Sabal and Dongkey Sanchez.
Rey Quirol, on the other hand, also snatched a double victory after ruling the beginners open production and local enduro.
Quirol defeated Miguel Antiga in the beginners open production and Dong-Dong Batiquin in the local enduro.
While Quirol and Tariman basked in the glow of success, Dongkey Sanchez, one of the most dominant riders in the lower class, ended up without a champion’s trophy this time, with Dong-Dong Batiquin outsmarting him in the open enduro.
Keiz BJ Racing Team's main man Seigfred Ornopia ruled his favorite executive A class over Jun Enriquez and Roscel Gungob.
Seigfred’s sons also made it to the top five in their respective categories, with Kerry and Ken posting a 2-4 finish in the peewee 50 won by Reggie Pepito, while Brylle, Kerry and Ken ended second, third and fourth respectively in the mini 65 dominated by Tom-Tom Largosa.
Brylle Ornopia also missed the mini class title against JP Cuesta and settled for the second place instead, while Denmar Supatan was third.
Gungob bounced back in the executive B after defeating Titing Sicad as Jun Enriquez settled for third.
The executive C was won by Jaime Ponce, with Jerry Sicad and Dan-Dan Gastador occupying the next two spots.
The underbone category saw Kent Limpag winning the battle, while the second to fifth placers were Mark Frasco, Ike Tumbiga, Smith Supatan and Kenneth Engus.
The one-day event was made possible through the support of Petron Sprint 40, Mayor Jay Olivar, Congressman Benhur Salimbangon, Engr.
