CEBU, Philippines - Before Cebu’s most promising shuttlecock artists showcase their wares in the 1st Cebu City Mayor’s Cup Badminton tournament, there will be a coaching and umpires’ upgrading course on April 14 to 15 at the Cebu City Sports Center.
The coaching and umpires’ course will be conducted by no less than Philippine Badminton Association secretary-general Judith Brosula who is also an international umpire.
The activity is facilitated by the Central Visayas Badminton Umpires Association to help local coaches and umpires so its members will be updated about the latest rules and techniques in badminton.
Entry fee is pegged at P1 thousand for the two-day course. The amount covers the accreditation fee, umpire’s fee, hand outs, and food.
Coaches and umpires will undergo a practicum of sorts on April 16 and 17 during the 1st Cebu City Mayor’s Cup Badmin-ton Age-group tourna-ment also at the CCSC.
Categories to be contested are the boys and girls’17-under, 15-under, 12-under and 10 years-old and under class.
The 15 and 17-under class will have the singles, doubles and mixed doubles competitions while the lower divisions will not include the mixed doubles.
Registration is pegged P300 for the15-under and 17-under class and P150 for the younger classes on a first-come, first-served basis.
Only 16 pairs for the doubles action and 16 individuals for the singles event of each category will be accepted due to limited time. (FREEMAN NEWS)
