CEBU, Philippines - Defending champion Subangdaku thrashed Banilad to stay unbeaten in the 4th Mandaue City Mayor’s Cup volleyball tournament the other night at Mandaue City Hall grounds.
Subangdaku of coach Dino Aribal whipped Banilad in the first, 25-22, win behind the attacks of its first stringers in former volleyball varsity stalwarts Roderick Arenasa, Edward Carlo Tecson, Geroel Aragones, Mamerto Dumaog, Aldin Potot, and Ryan Fuentes.
Subangdaku then finished off Banilad in the second set, rallying from a 21-22 deficit to hack out a 25-22 victory.
In the other men’s action, Looc pummeled Umapad, 25-22, 25-21. Looc will face Subangdaku next.
In the distaff side, Banilad overpowered Basak 25-20, 25-21 through the efforts of Gendrauli sisters, Danika and Kim and Dianne Bercede.
Centro, on the other hand, fended off Tipolo, 25-22, 25-18 courtesy of Rachel Hanna Singson, Janice Igot, Juvelyn Glipo, Cherie Echevare and Angel Borbajo. (FREEMAN NEWS)
