CEBU, Philippines – Rochelle Tan proved her victory in the Xterra Philippines was no fluke as she ruled the 3rd Holiday Gym and Spa Indoor Triathlon the other day at HGS in Brgy. Banilad, this city.
Tan won the female open in 33.26 minutes followed by Loveleinell Casidsid with the time of 34:06.
Former top local triathlete Ripples Rafanan-Faelnar still showed some flair in the three-in-one sport by placing third in 35:37. Ultra marathoner and broadcaster/lawyer Haide Acuña came out fourth with the time of 38:34, while Names Singh ended fifth with a 41:05 clocking.
In the men's side, Franz Baguio won the seniors 20 with the time of 29:21, the fastest among all participants in the 300-meter swim, 10-minute stationary bike and 3-kilometer run. Jaype Campaña wound up second in 31 minutes followed by Jack Daniel Ombid in 31:05.
The top three in the juniors category were Gavin Solijon (30:33), Kristian Paul Garciano (34:54) and Rafael Tan (37:39), while the top finishers in the masters division were Tyrone Tan (31:34) and Douglas Sharpe (35:20).
Warren Vergara dominated the seniors 30 in 31:15 followed by Carlo Pacaldo (33:43) and Brian Dominic Padilla (42:22).
In the special class among HGS members, Adrian Lua copped the first place honors in 31:50 followed by Bernard Chioson (33:11) and Chris Capistrano (33:20), while Brian Dominic Canton and Razel Cabajar raced unopposed in the tandem competition. (FREEMAN)
