Two-day darts tourney slated at Baseline

CEBU, Philippines – Cebuano darters brace for a tough challenge ahead as back-to-back events take place here on October 2 and 3 at Baseline Sports and Recreational Center.

Before the country's seasoned and upcoming darters go for the Philippine Open, friends of the late Dennis Tan, one of the most beloved darts official here, want come up with a friendly battle among themselves, thus, the staging of the Dennis Tan Memorial Cup on October 2.

The participants will compete in a classified doubles under the best-of-3 501 action in the winners' bracket and a one-game 701 match in the losers' bracket.

After the doubles action, darters will showcase their wares individually in the Visayas leg of the 2010 Philippine Open Singles.

The top 8 in the Visayas leg will advance to the national finals on October 17 in Manila.

The top perfor-mers in the finale will then represent the country to the 2011 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship in Alexandra Palace in London on December 16 until January 3, 2011.

Cash prizes and trophies are at stake for the winners in the two-day event.

Interested parties in this Cebu Darts Association-organized and Terton Craft-sponsored event is pegged at P200 per player for the classified doubles and P400 for the Philippine Open singles.  (FREEMAN)
