CEBU, Philippines - The seasoned University of San Carlos, the visiting Palompon Institute of Technology and new-comer Maria Montessori International School dominated their respective classes in the just-concluded 12th VISSA Inter-School Swimming.

USC ruled the secondary division with 429 points besting Talisay City Swim team with 359 points while Maria Montessori International School landed third with 284 points.
Maria Montessori, however, did so much better in the elementary level bagging the top honors with a total of 640 points. Second place went to the University of Bohol with 594 and Surigao City Division Swim team was third with 248 points.
Another visiting team, the Palompon Institute of Technology ruled the tertiary level over Cristal-e College with their 173 points against 143 points of the latter as USC wound up third with 64 points.
On the other hand, Maria Montessori, aside from ruling the elementary level, also saw one of its bets, Chloe Alvarez dominating the 6-under class while USC had Maynard Sasedor dominating the boys’11-12 class and Cynthjune Goden in the boys’13-14 level.
University of Bohol also had two outstanding swimmer awardees with John Jose Nelwin reigning in the boys’ 7-8 division and teammate Nathalie Deanne Fredenborg in the girls’ 9-10 class.
University of San Jose-Recoletos’ Lorens Govenechea and John Beltran were the best in the 15-17 class and Surigao’s
Bonel Tandayag ruled the 18-and-above class and Kyle Nicole Divinagracia dominated the girls’ 7-8 class.
Paref-Springdale’s Christante Veloso got the boys’ 9-10 class top spot and Talisay’s Camille Shane Pacabis in the girls’ 13-14.
VISSA officials also gave recognition to three neophytes, who also made waves in the said event including siblings Gianna and Gabby Alindogan of SB Cabahug Forum for Literacy after grabbing medals each with 25-m and 50-m freestyle and backstroke respectively while Marie Ernestine’s Marc Garapan got a bronze in the 50-m butterfly and the 25-m and 50-m freestyle events. – THE FREEMAN
