CEBU, Philippines - The present female star of road running in Cebu prevented a former top runner from stealing the show from them as Mary Grace de los Santos and Madelyn Carter posted a 1-2 finish in the 1st University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) ‘Run For St.Augustine’ at the Ayala Center-Cebu Terraces grounds yesterday morning.
Even if De los Santos is still recovering from a back-to-back half-marathon action here, she still managed to keep a good pacing enough to keep herself on top of the 10K action.
Carter, on the other hand, trailed second to Delos Santos and prevented former local road running queen Christy Sevilleno from overtaking her.
Sevilleno is slowly getting back in shape, but she still has to push herself harder to get back her throne.
On the other hand, the men’s premiere 10K action saw Ian Bernido collecting another champion’s trophy for himself, thanks to the absence of Simon Losiaboi among other top male runners around.
Bernido outsmarted Roland Montebon for the top spot as Riez Enriquez settled for third. (FREEMAN)
