CEBU, Philippines - Boboy Tandoc and Ryan Canillas both scored a two-round stoppage of their respective rivals in July’s opening salvo of the Summit Natural Drinking Water Fight Night Amateur Boxing Series at the Gaisano Countrymall carpark.
Tandoc of the Philippine-Australian Boxing Club forced Elecio Eyac of Badian into submission in 30 seconds of their 54 kgs. duel.
Tandoc’s teammate Rhezon Tarona also emerged victorious by decision over Jhunnel Gekong of Flores Boxing Club in the 39 kgs. class.
Canillas, the lone entry from Toledo City, crushed Tandoc’s comrade Neil Maringuran at 1:10 of the second round in the 51 kgs.
While PABC ended with a 2-4 win-loss card, Cabancalan won all but one of its assignments.
The triumphant Cabancalan pugilists were 23 kgs. Jomar Caspe, 26 kgs. Vicente Seos-e Jr., 51 kgs. Michael Romarate and 57 kgs. Mark Benaldez.
Caspe defeated Bacayan’s Dominique Casañares, Seos-e tamed Pusok’s Gabriel Besinga, Romarate outsmarted Flores Boxing Club’s Belmar Espina, while Bernaldez mauled PABC’s Wenceslao Gakit.
Krisvie Abarquez also made sure he will break into the winners’ list together with his teammates at Cabancalan by pulling away a 2-1 victory over Ferde San Roque in the 45 kgs. division, while 48 kgs. Reoxyl Tabogon enjoyed a win by walkover.
Rommel Tuñacao, on the other hand, overcame PABC’s Reymond Rama, 2-1, Banilad’s Rammel Casañares silenced PABC’s Richard Rama, and Escalante’s Melvin Gumban earned a 2-1 triumph over FBC’s Reovynyl Sentillas. – THE FREEMAN
