CEBU, Philippines - The once dreaded Gilbert Demape-led Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT) Wildkittens Batch ’91-92 will hold a reunion anytime this month. As of the moment though, the organizers of the event are still contacting the members of the team so they can decide on the date and venue.
The Wildkittens, who clinched the Zonals Championship during that time, also placed third in the Cebu Amateur Athletic Association (CAAA). They missed the finals when they lost by a slim margin of quotient to the Salazar Institute of Technology (SIT) Baby Skyblazers.
During the Zonals, the Wildkittens bagged the title after vanquishing the UV Baby Lancers, whose lineup include Stephen Padilla, Aldrin Ocañada, Jurie Violango, brothers Eric and Abe Galinato, the later Elder Cabahug and Rowen Grafe.
The Wildkittens, thus, represented Cebu to the National Inter-Secondary Championships in San Perdo, Laguna but fell prey to the San Beda Red Cubs in the finals.
Mentored by Romy Cal, the members of the champion team were Demape, skipper Robert Ortega, Joseph Caparida, Albert Cenabre, Elmer Arnado, Jumie Ararao, Roy Bacalso, Carlo del Rosario, Lad Lopez, Henry Dacua, Josel Castro and George Magale.
Ortega said those who wish to join the reunion is advised to contact him at 0923-2311438 or Arlene Tongco at 254-9698. – THE FREEMAN
