CEBU, Philippines - The Dumanjug District Swim Team showed no intimidation as it bested nine other squads to rule the Speedo Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Novice Swim Meet 2010 recently at the Boys Scout Camp’s swimming pool.
Dumanjug raked in a total of 391 points to clinch the overall championship, edging out the Bohol Aquatic Sports Swim Team by just six points.
Dumanjug got its points from the 64 golds, seven silvers and 19 bronzes it hauled plus 10 fourth place finishes, 13 fifth places, five sixth places, two seventh places and four places each in the next two seats.
Sacred Heart Center’s bets landed third with 336 points as Maria Montessori International School wound up fourth with 257 points. The Talisay City Lifesavers came in fifth with 194 points.
The fifth to 10th finishers were the Pool Pirates Swim Team (160), Talisay Aquanauts (145), University of San Jose-Recoletos (57), Cebu Lifesavings Aquatic Sports (30) and the University of San Carlos (six points).
Aside from bagging the overall crown, Dumanjug also reaped several individual honors with Dominic Noel emerging as the best in the boys 7-8 class and Vins Eduardo Samson in the boys 11-12.
Talisay City Lifesaving’s Jun Justin Medrano topped the boys 6-under, Bohol’s Kyle Christian Lim in the boys 9-10 and teammate Dominic Romanos in the boys 13-above.
Maria Montessori saw two of its bets emerging as the most dominant in the girls side - Chloe Alvarez in the 6-under and Alyanna Madarang in the 7-8 class, in the same way with Sacred Heart through Nieca Aella Parrenas in the 9-10 and Kristen Charmaine Kanen in the 11-12.
USJ-R’s Aya Saint Abejo completed the cast of individual awardees via the girls 13-above category. (FREEMAN NEWS)
