CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano architect and racer, Philip Khan Lim of team No-Care-Racing bagged the GT Turbo challenge title after besting other top-caliber racers during the Cebu Fest 2010 Drag Racing Tournament at the South Road Properties.
Lim topped the race after a close run with Jeff Lambo of Cebu Textar Racing, who finished second.
There was also the well-applauded the inter-team exhibition races that was a hit to the spectators.
Drag racing tournament manager, Neil Labrador said that the said competition was the first annual meet of the drag racers.
“It’s been two years since the last legal drag racing was held here in Cebu. So everybody, not only the racers but also the spectators was so excited,” Labrador said.
“Basically the meet was to promote and bring back legal drag racing again. And also this will also introduce different teams and clubs to one another,” he added.
“We are proud to say that this time we didn’t interrupt any traffic from the public, since the runs were made at night starting at 10 p.m. The event was very successful both for the racers and for the public. We are looking forward for a formal drag race this year,” Labrador said.
The said sporting event was attended by so many racing teams like Auto Care Racing (ACR) led by Alfred Yap, Cebu Textar Racing led by Jason Uy, DGL Motorsports of David G. Lim, DSM Racing Performance, DubCity led by Vincent Navales, Team Kartzone led by Jess Garcia, Team NCR led by Alan Choachuy.
Different auto clubs also showed support like FD Club Cebu, Honda Club Cebu, Kia Pride Club Cebu, Old School Club Cebu, Toyota Auto Club Club, Vios Club Philippines Cebu.
The organizers would like to extend their gratitude to all the teams and auto clubs for making the meet a success. Also to Castrol for the never ending support since the start of the legal drag racing last 2003. (FREEMAN NEWS)
