CEBU, Philippines - After failing against the Adamson University, the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Lady Jaguars take another shot at quarterfinal berth as they take on the College of St. Benilde in the Shakey’s V-League Season 7 at The Arena in San Juan City. Gametime is set at 2 pm.
“I’m encouraging the girls to develop confidence and presence of mind inside the court because these are key elements to win a game. Everything, including the attacks and defense, will just follow naturally,” said USJ-R’s decorated coach Grace Antigua, a Cebu Sports Hall of Famer.
“As what I’ve seen in their first game against Adamson, they were not consistent in their performance. Also, they had lots of reception errors,” Antigua added.
Whatever it may be, the Lady Jaguars must brace for one big war against St. Benilde, which is fighting for survival after losing three straight games against Adamson, Ateneo de Manila University, and Lyceum University of the Philippines.
The Josenians will count the most from their reinforcements, RP Team member Michiko Castañeda of the University of the Philippines and former USJ-R star player Michelle Simbajon. They will be backed up by Abegail Praca, Mary Joy Bonita, Rachelle Hannah Singson, Princess Canda, Mytha Padillo, Mona Dubduban, Cristina Lavador, Avegale Getuaban and Carla Garces.
