CEBU, Philippines - Around 75 athletes are expected to see action in the Cebu leg of the SPEEDO National Age-Group Triathlon Series on April 25 at the posh Plantation Bay Resort and Spa in Mactan Island.
Cebu leg organizer, Danao City councilor Oscar “Boying” Rodriguez Jr. in a press conference at Ila Puti yesterday said, more are expected to join as triathletes are preparing for the Subic International Triathlon next month.
Five foreign triathletes have also registered for the Cebu leg including
US Triathlon’s Charles Fletcher of Maryland and the four others from Hong Kong.
Triathletes will be dealing with a 1-kilometer swim at the lagoon, 30-kilometer bike from Plantation Bay to Cordova and back and a 7.5-kilometer run around the resort.
Rodriguez said, they decided to have swimming event at the lagoon instead of the open waters so that even beginners will join the event.
Registration fee is pegged at P500.
Participants will get Speedo t-shirts, breakfast and a free pass for one guest.
Deadline for the submission of entries is on April 21. Registration centers are the Speedo shops in Ayala and SM City-Cebu, Rudy Project and David’s Salon at SM and at the Philippine Sports Commission-VII office at the Cebu City Sports Center. (FREEMAN NEWS)
