CEBU, Philippines - Alex Yeo bagged the top honors in the March Monthly Medal of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club shooting the lowest gross score of even-par 72 strokes.
Yeo won the award after edging Clifford Gaite in the countback based on their scores on the back nine. Yeo shot 38 strokes against the 39 of Gaite.
Gaite, however, won the lowest net honors for class A with his 61 strokes. He plays with a handicap of 9.
Runner-up honors for the premiere handicap class went to Enrico Solon with a net score of 67.
The lowest gross title for class B went to David Park with 79 strokes edging Bobby Barria in the countback.
The lowest net plum for the category went to Ed Manzano with 64 while runner-up honors went to Avelino ‘Jun’ Zambo with 65 strokes.
Ricky Aznar, a member of the club’s board of directors, shot 88 strokes to win the lowest gross honors for class C. The lowest net plum was won by Michael Lim with 68 strokes while runner-up honors went to Jonathan Yu with. Tony Amor topped the seniors’ division with a gross score of 73 strokes.
The lowest net for the age category went to Dr. Ted San Juan with 63 strokes while Ben Yu finished as runner-up with his net 66 after pulling past John Uy in the countback. Choi Yi Hwa scored the lowest gross for the ladies category with 78 strokes while the lowest net was scored by Susan Park with 67 strokes.
The guest division title went to Jong Chul Shim with a net score of 72 strokes edging runner-up Jasem Al Qattan in the countback.
Manzano also won a special prize for being nearest the pin on the par-3 hole number 6 leaving five feet and six inches for a birdie try.
The most accurate drive award for hole number 11 was made by Razy Razon, whose ball landed four inches from the center line. – NLQ (THE FREEMAN)
