CEBU, Philippines - Team No Care Racing (NCR) will parade a new car, field in a new driver and trumpet a new sponsor as the 2010 Philippine autocross season gets underway today at Parkmall.
"This is the start of the new season. The team has come up with a new car, new driver and new sponsor but the same passion (for winning). As the name of our group suggests, we don't care about anything other than winning," said Alan "Big Al" G. Choachuy, one of Team NCR's founding members during a press conference at Chika-an Restaurant in Parkmall.
"With this latest development, we are upbeat on the upcoming autocross season. We hope that we could improve our performance this year," said Choachuy.
Team NCR's newest baby is the Toyota MRS, which is powered by Dewfoam motorsport.
"With the new tire regulations, I think we're much more competitive this time around than last year. I'm really excited about it because at the end of the race, it all boils down to driving skills," said Team NCR's top driver Jong King.
Maxxis, the team's latest corporate backer, will be the one to provide quality tires for the NCR cars.
"We're supporting Team NCR because for me, they're the best team out there," said Ronald Ang, vice president for operations of North Trend Marketing Corp., the exclusive distributor of Maxxis tires and Mobil lubricants in the Vis-Min region.
Also during the affair, Team NCR announced its newest driver in Eric Canama. "I decided to join Team NCR because of its will to win. When you're with them, you will be highly motivated to aspire for victory," said Canama.
Canama will join a crew of star-studded autocross racers led by Jong King, who finished second overall in the all-Wheel drive class last season.
Philip Khan "Lik-Lik" Lim emerged as the overall champion in stock A and automatic class, Dennis "The Menace" Corro bagged the overall title in old school category, while Robert "Bobby" Pangilinan clinched the overal championship in the rear wheel drive class.
Alan Choachuy also stole part of the spotlight by winding up first runner-up in the automatic and second runner-up in the sports car category.
"This year, we're planning to join regional legs in Davao, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro and Bacolod. This is our initial step to hopefully enter the national circuit in the future," said Choachuy.
Completing Team NCR's roster are Eric Khen, Anthony Khe, Norris See, Johnel Abello, Peter Joseph Cinco and Antonio Almario.
Aside from Dewfoam, Maxxis and Mobil, Team NCR is also supported by DURAbend, Aldo Service Center, Inc. and Total lubricants. – EBV (THE FREEMAN)
