CEBU, Philippines - The San Remigio Beach Club went strong in the windup to escape with a 80-78 win over Tuesday Club in the Benjamin Neri Borromeo (BNB) Memorial Cup basketball tournament the other day at the Immanuel Bible College (IBC) gym in Banawa, this city.
SRBC, thus, took the solo lead with a 6-1 win-loss record, just a full game ahead over the 6-2 Apartelle Suites.
Surprisingly, it was Tuesday Club which led most of the way until San Remigio caught fire at the final 1:07 mark to change the complexion of the match in its favor.
In the other games, the Apartelle Suites won by forfeiture over the Capitol Basketball Association (CAPBAS), while the Cebu Grand Hotel suffered a humiliating 75-127 defeat to CAPBAS.
Ex-pro Teroy Albarill registered a BNB record of 17 triples including four four-point plays to finish with a league-high 64 points. (GGM) (FREEMAN NEWS)
