CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano word wizard Engr. Theodoro Martus Jr., faltered in his title defense and just placed third in the open category of the International Causeway Scrabble Challenge at the Zon Regency Hotel in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Martus went through a rough-sailing battle before finally settling for third.
Michael Akonor from Ghana reigned supreme in the two-day contest participated in by 150 players from 28 countries around the world. Australia’s Peter Kougi bagged the second place trophy.
Nawapadol Sayavesa of Thailand wound up fourth followed by Anand Buddhdey of Netherlands.
Rounding up the top 10 finishers were Kevin McMahon of Ireland, Cheah Siu Hean of Singapore), Pui Cheng Wui of Malaysia, Charnrit Khongthanarat of Thailand, and Yeo Kian Hung of Malaysia. (FREEMAN NEWS)
