CEBU, Philippines - Kenyan missionary Saimon Luisado spoiled the day of Mendel Lopez by topping the Rock N’ Run 2 at the Ayala Center-Cebu Terraces yesterday.
In his first competition here in Cebu, the Kenyan showed what he is made of by snatching the title in dominating fashion. More than his height, he also proved that he possessed the genes that made the Kenyans among the best long distance runners in the world.
Luisado, who led all the way, finished the 12-kilometer run in 38 minutes and 8.62 seconds followed by Lopez with 39:06.82. Revodem Aranas landed third with a 40:25.06 clocking.
In the distaff side, Mary Grace de los Santos added feathers on her cap by taking the first place honors with the time of 46:51.42.
Madelyn Carter wound up second with 49:59.68 followed by Mary Joy Tabal with 50:58:09.
Veteran runners Elmer Bartolo and Leizel Lumindas-Gitaruelas, on the other hand, stamped their respective classes in the 5K division.
Bartolo logged in 17:20:23 followed by Joel Delposo with 17:27:35 and Reprenel Banzon with 17:34:33.
Lumindas posted the time of 19:44:33 burt football player Bea Maximo got the surprise of everyone by winding up second with the time of 19:54:35. Former top swimmer Lhoriz Echavez came in third with the time of 20:00.90.
In the 3K category, Ian Bernido emerged the fastest in the boys bracket with the time of 9:29:67, while Jhean Adrean shone the brightest in the girls side with 12:18:18. – THE FREEMAN
