CEBU, Philippines - The return of coach Glenn Ramos from his stint with the national team, Don Bosco Technology Center once again proved unstoppable after collecting three more titles in the Pintaflores Football Festival in San Carlos City.
Just a few days since winning the Pintaflores National Invitational under-16 crown, the Glenn Ramos-coached Don Bosco squad defended its under-10 title in the festival-type tournament spiced up with the under-8 and 14 crowns.
When coach Ramos was not around as he was busy with his coaching job with the RP squad, observers noted a lackluster showing by DBTC in several events in Cebu.
Don Bosco remained on its under-10 throne after beating 11 other squads vying for the crown in the seven-a-side tournament.
Don Bosco posted a 2-0 victory against Victory Football Club of Manila in the final match.
Don Bosco logged five wins in the elimination round to meet fellow Cebuano team, Giuseppe, in the semifinal, which they beat 1-0 courtesy of a goal by Glenn Thomas Ramos, son of the coach.
In the championship game, Glenn Thomas continued to pounce on, scoring the first goal for his team and followed with another one by John Clyde Vituala.
On the other hand, Don Bosco’s under- 8 side overpowered the San Carlos City selection with a 2-1 triumph.
The under-14 squad of Don Bosco sponsored by Hi-Smart of Tri-Derma Corporation made sure they also go home with a champions’ trophy by outsmarting Santo Thomas-Recoletos of San Carlos, 1-0.
The lone goal came from Carlo Avella.
There were also some female squads which saw action in San Carlos, but failed to move up to the final round. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
