CEBU, Philippines - Multi-titled Cebuana martial artist Stephanie Agbay gets another crack at international fame as she represents the country in the 10th World Wushu Championships set from October 25 to 29 at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto, Canada.
Agbay and the rest of the RP bets left the country early yesterday.
This is the second WWC stint for the 19 year-old Agbay, the first of which was an Olympic qualifyin in Beijing two years ago.
Despite the leadership row that struck the country’s wushu association, Agbay and her teammates refused to be destructed by the situation and stay focused on their training.
Agbay’s sister Mary Evangeline was supposed to join the RP squad for the WWC event but she failed to make the final cut.
After the world championships, Stephanie Agbay will train her sights next on the 25th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Laos this December. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
