1st Honda Underbone series kicks off in Cebu

CEBU, Philippines - Underbone daredevils get the chance to show their wares as the 1st Hone One Make Race Underbone Circuit Racing Series kicks off today at Kartzone in Mabolo, this city.

The series features five classes - 4-automatic scooter (All Honda Beat scooters), 100-115 super stock beginner’s class, 100-115 novice open class, 125 super stock beginners class and the 125 novice open class.

The organizers intentionally scrapped the expert division to give way to new underbone enthusiasts. Underbone racing is one of the country’s fastest growing motorsports.

This Visayas and Mindanao racing series will have 10 legs with different cities hosting these legs. Cebu and Davao will host two legs. After today’s race, Cebu will host the penultimate leg on April 4, 2010. Davao City will host the next leg on November 8 and the final leg on May 9. 2010.

The other hosts and schedules will be Tagum City (November 29), Iloilo City (January 17), Cagayan De Oro City (January 17), Bacolod City (February 7), General Santos City (February 20), and Tagbilaran City (March 7).  

Riders will earn points from each leg and the points will count towards the Rider of the Year award.

The basis for the riders’ classification in Cebu were the OZR GR Races and the 5th Gear Motorsports races in Davao, Cagayan, Iloilo, General Santos and Bacolod . —Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
