CEBU, Philippines - Revodem Aranas and Margie Apostol stamped their respective classes in the inaugural staging of the Congressman Eduardo R. Gullas Run yesterday in Talisay Ciy.
Aranas, who had been performing well in short distance courses, bagged the men's 10K title after clocking in 33 minutes and 49.84 seconds, while the youthful Reprinel Banzon placed second in 34:18.38.
The more experienced Riez Enriquez could only make it to third place with the time of 34:47.02, while Dennis Salentes was fourth in 40:05.35 followed by Fabian Manzano in 40:15.73.
In the distaff side, the little-known Apostol outsmarted former top swimmer-turned runner Lorhiz Echavez for the crown.
Apostol completed the race in 44:42.84, while Echavez ended her bid with a 47:50.84 clocking. Camilla Luterte came in third with the time of 50:51.40.
In the 5K category, Joel Delposo ruled the men's category in 6 minutes and 28.13 seconds. Robert Daang trailed Delposo in 16:47.62 as Edzel Ardiente occupied the third spot in 17:18.91.
In the women's class, Haziel Retavale placed first after registering the time of 22:00.05 followed by Aiza Suaybaguio in 22:17.36 and Monica Cuizon in 24:29.18.
In the 3K battle among the all-first district employees and officials, Joselito Laurente snatched the top honors. Teofilo Tapales and Ranny Largo filled up the next two sports, respectively.
In the 3K media division, Jovy Taghoy-Gerodias reigned supreme followed by Andreama Llerin and The Freeman’s Janet Montenegro.
In the men’s side, the top three honors were grabbed by Ronald Banogon, Allain Cortes and William Rama.
Danao City Councilor Oscar "Boying" Rodriguez also made his presence felt by lording it over in the executive division.
On the other hand, the youngest Talisaynon runner award went to Krisianyl Alianic, while the 72-year-old Ciriaco Cabañero emerged as the oldest Talisaynon finisher. – THE FREEMAN
