CEBU, Philippines - Niño Surban emerged as the biggest winner in the 2nd Congressman Red Durano Mountainbike Championships in Danao City the other day.
Surban was too unstoppable for his opponents, finishing the race in 32 minutes and 45.32 seconds.
Jan Phil Rodriguez finished second in 37:44.71 followed by Jezam Baldomar with a 39:06.59 clocking.
Gino Basirgo topped the seniors division with the time of 37:19.2, while Elmer Navarro wound up second in 38:11.704.
Ben Fabroa came out the fastest in masters A class in 40:42.68, while Sanny Boy Catubay topped masters B in 28:40.57.
Roman Suplig dominated the executive class in 29:49.59. Toto Lim placed second in 30:50.7 and Orville Tecson third in 32:59.20.
In the veterans category, Ramon Espinosa bagged the champion’s trophy in 38:10.66, while Jun Endrina landed second in 39:13.73. Junasis Alicaway finished third in 39:59.624.
Franklyn Solasco reigned supreme in the beginners class after crossing the finish line in 24:58.87. Rolly Cabaluna (25:38.69) and Jessie Repunte (27:18.38) occupied the next two spots.
On the other hand, the speed demons from Oriental Negros scored a clean sweep in the downhill competition.
Eleazar and Wendell Barba snatched the top two seats in the open class, while Gregorio Alano was third. Eleazar Barba zoomed to the top post with the time of one minute and 36.64 seconds.
In the executive class, Jemuel Moreno took the first place honors in 58.13 seconds. Victor Bagano came in second with a time of 59.54 seconds followed by Melo Anito in 1:00.27. –Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
