Whiner not winner

Alberto Contador seems to be an unhappy winner. After taking his second title in the Tour de France, the Spaniard, instead of thanking his teammates most especially seven-time champion Lance Armstrong for helping him achieve the feat, lambasted Armstrong.

Of course, it will never be easy being in the same team as the biggest star of the sport, but Lance did not let that get into his head as he seemed to have followed team orders and finished a happy third placer in the TdF.

Maybe I am biased being a big fan of Lance, but I believe that Contador has so much to be thankful for despite what obviously was a very tense situation in the team.

No doubt he is good being a two-time champion, but he’s more of a whiner than a winner with the way he’s talking.

At least next year, he won’t be riding alongside Lance for the same team, let’s see who he will be lambasting next.

The Hungarian Grand Prix brought sad and happy news for Ferrari as Brazilian Felipe Massa figured in a freak accident that might end his career while his teammate Kimi Raikkonen finished second to McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton.

The race last weekend was probably the one with the most incidents starting with that spring coming from the car of Brawn’s Rubens Barichello flying out and hitting the side of Massa’s helmet.

On race day, the front left tire on former world champion Fernando Alonso’s car also flew off resulting to a one-race suspension for team Renault.

With Massa’s eyesight believed to be affected by the accident, something in the news got me quite excited – the plan of Michael Schumacher to return to racing.

A spokesperson of Schumi reportedly said that the German champion is willing to take over the seat of Massa in the team.

If this really happens, I wonder if it will help Ferrari get back into the thick of the battle after a rather sorry performance this season so far.

I’m sure the presence of Schumi alone can ruffle some feathers and might cause some changes in the positions of the drivers.

It’s still too early to say that Schumi can make his team turn around, but seeing him back behind the wheel will be something to look forward to.

This should give us fans from Cebu to book flights and hotel rooms for the Singapore GP this September.
