Pimentel and Oyao bag Cebu's lone gold in international dance contest

CEBU, Philippines – Dancesport-Team Cebu City’s son and daughter tandem of Jefferson Pimentel and Virgiani Oyao saved the day for the Cebuanos with their golden finish in the IDSF Asian Championships at Philsports Arena in Pasig City the other night.

Pimentel and Oyao topped the youth division’s latin discipline. DTCC actually occupied three of the top six finishers in the youth latin action, with Inoe Roi Rendon and Christy Kim Velez grabbing the bronze.

 Wilbert Aunzo and Pearl Marie Caneda got the fourth spot, while Roque and Rhea Marquez settled for fifth.

In the standard discipline, Aunzo and Caneda placed sixth as Rendon and Velez could only make it to seventh place followed by Jeric Canoy and Jessa Mae Briones.

Joseph Gitaruelas and Jocelyn Versteeg, on the other hand, won a silver in the grade E Venetian waltz competition, while Marlon Aliño and Elizabeth Zets snatched the bronze.

Mae Lozada and her long-time partner Anselmo Estillore wound up with a silver in the grade C latin. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
